One of the three great art galleries of Madrid, the Prado Museum boasts an enormous 7,000 plus collection. However, they are not all always on display. In fact more than half of them are usually held for restoration. A great feature of this large collection is its ability to rotate the works available for public viewing, always keeping it fresh. The bulk of the collection is dedicated to some of Spain’s most famed artists including Goya, El Greco and Velasquez, however, great Italian and Flemish schools of art are on display as well. Leave a whole day for exploration, just make sure it’s not Monday.
