An especially intriguing diversion from the beaches is Majorca’s splendid ‘Old Quarter’ a labyrinth of winding streets flanked by superb architecture and home to the city’s most fascinating museums. You can virtually trace the island’s history in stone with buildings in Moorish, Gothic, Baroque and even Roman styles. Wonderful gothic churches rub shoulders with magnificent stately homes, the whole area virtually oozing elegance and nobility. Pride of place is taken by the 10th century Moorish baths an excellent example of the era’s architecture. Strangely enough, this incredible living, breathing museum is also the locale for the City’s most vibrant nightlife.
