The Sierra de Las Nieves, which literally means ‘Mountain Range of the Snows’, was recently declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. This unquestionably impressive mountain range set in the heart of the province of Malaga is home to an incredibly rich array of fauna and flora, which varies through a succession of different bio climatic levels. Once a place of refuge for highwaymen and outlaws, today the Sierra de las Nieves one of Spain’s most popular areas for the study of nature, including botany and bird life and is home to a wide variety of game including chamois, roebuck, wildcat, otter and royal eagle.
