Widely regarded by enthusiasts as having the best skiing in Sweden (if not Scandinavia) Åre has five ski centres comprised of 135 runs, which cover 60 miles of pistes and over 160 miles of prepared ski tracks. The highest point if 4180ft with the longest vertical drop around 3000ft and the longest single run just over 4miles. There is also unlimited off piste. Basically Åre has it all, from incredible off piste over high alpine terrain to slopes for beginners. The facilities are world class – 49 ski lifts serve 45 blue, 35 red and 5 black runs and the standard of tuition is amongst the very best in all Europe. Everything is maintained to the highest possible standard, especially the slopes.
For après ski Åre village makes a charming rest bite with numerous shops, restaurants, bars and cafes to wind down grab a bite to eat, calm those tattered first time nerves or generally kick back and enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere.
