Tanzania - Sugar & Spice on the island of Zanzibar

With the Indian Ocean lapping at its shores and the air heavy with the aroma of pungent spices and spice oils, Zanzibar couldn’t get more exotic if it put on a Carmen Miranda headdress and shook some maracas. Have your senses dazzled and your minds completely blown with the sheer variety of spices and their ancient, yet innovative uses in cooking, cosmetics and medicine. No prizes for guessing why Zanzibar is known as the spice island – just rest assured it is nothing to do with girl power.
