Tunisia - Camel Trekking from Douz

Camel trekking has become one of the most popular activities to indulge in whilst out in Tunisia. The larger operators work out of Zaafrane, 12km south-west of Douz but there are plenty of smaller scale camel trek organisers in Douz. Camel treks range all the way from an hours test-drive to see how the old rear end fares, to an eight day buttock bruising jaunt across the desert – the choice is yours. The best approach is to take an hour’s trek to test whether you could endure anything longer. There is even the option to dress up a’la Lawrence of Arabia and swathe yourself in white nomadic costume to really get into the swing of things. Just hope that things are still able to swing after eight days on a camel.
