Tunisia - Day out in Sfax

Ironically, the great tourist appeal of Sfax - Tunisia’s second largest city - is that it’s not geared to the tourist market at all! The markets therefore, the harbour and the old city are all completely swathed in undiluted Tunisian culture from head to toe. The bustling markets sell authentic Tunisian wares as opposed to the tacky tourist souvenirs of the major resort centres. The old city is definite must see, the streets are packed with natives rather than camera-toting tourist hoards and the streets are filled with shops and traditional Tunisian eateries. Prices tend to be a little cheaper in Sfax and this, together with the fantastic Tunisian ambience creates a winning combination that will suit anyone wanting a taste of the real thing.
