England - Camping in the Lake District

England sightseeing, attractions and online travel guide

The Lake District is famed for it’s stunning mountains, moody moors, lakes and hills and boasts some of England’s most amazing scenery. Camping in the Lake District is well provided for, with 12 well-kitted camping barns in the National Park Area itself (costing around £3 a night), plus the National Trust runs a number of campsites dotted around the park offering facilities for both tents and vans. Camping is extremely well provided for and there are excellent facilities including hot and cold coin-operated showers, fresh water and toilets. The campsites are always in strategically advantageous places for the best walking and hiking routes, such as the sites at Borrowdale, Wasdale, Eskdale, Langdale and Glenridding. Most camp sites are invariably also near to a cosy pub for a few home comforts and a pint after an invigorating day walking through England’s favourite National Park.
