England - The Cotswolds – Royal and unspoiled

England sightseeing, attractions and online travel guide

The Cotswolds are renowned as being one of the most beautiful landscapes in the country and encapsulates practically all of the clichιs and quaint assumptions about the green and rolling English countryside. Undulating with gentle hills and intersected by old stone walls snaking across the lush fields, the Cotswolds are peppered with picturesque little towns such as Bibury, Chipping Campden, Cirencester and Stow-on-the-Wold that appear to have been little touched by the harsh modern developments of last few decades. The buildings are famously made from honey coloured Cotswold stone and the houses, churches, coaching inns and cosy pubs all contribute to the timeless ambience that infuses every little part of the Cotswolds making it an idyllic English hideaway from modern day pressures.
