Leeds, frequently described as the mini London of the North has grown to become one the most exciting entertainment capitals in the country with a vibrant café / wine bar / restaurant society that never sleeps. Culture thrives at every level, whether its music, theatre, cinema or crafts & fine art reflecting the young vivacious student population, the melange of different cultures and the sophisticated professional face of Leeds. The Waterfront in particular has become one of Leeds’ most trendy and sophisticated eating quarters after its stunning facelift in the mid-80’s. Criss-crossed by Amsterdam-style foot bridges, the Waterfront plays host to international selection of eateries and a large helping of award-winning restaurants - this is the place to dine. As for drinking, if you’re not lounging in one of the street cafes soaking up the atmosphere, then Leeds has more than enough pubs to choose from. Leeds has also practically become synonymous with clubbing and is considered to have one of the biggest club scenes outside of London, not to mention one of the friendliest and trendiest. Clubbers come from all over the country to experience Leeds’ gigantic club scene. And, as for the shopping - Leeds has firmly established itself as the major shopping experience in the North of England. This retail capital boasts two miles of traffic free shopping and one mile of indoor shopping which includes 1000 shops, 300 of which offers top fashion and clothes. The city is renowned for having a Harvey Nichols, as well as other top international designer boutiques by Vivienne Westwood, Karen Millen, Episode and Primo. There are countless shopping complexes, modern malls and top household names with new stores opening all the time including Strand, FWK, Borders Bookshop (one of the largest bookshops in the UK) and even the Savile Row Tailors, Gieves and Hawkes. In entertainment terms, Leeds is a hard act to follow.
