The main agricultural destination in Uruguay, the Uruguayan Littoral, west of Montevideo, covers parts of Río Uruguay and Río de la Plata. Visitors usually come to the area to visit the vibrant, majestic city of Colonia, filled with cobbled streets and whitewashed buildings. Nearby, at Mercedes beach, there are plenty of water activities for tourists to indulge in including swimming and boating, but if that’s not a visitors scene there are some great museums to look around in Uruguay's second largest city of Paysandú.
