Comprised of both a museum and a school the Art Institute of Chicago is home to over 300,000 works of art and consists of ten curatorial departments. The magnificent beau-arts building was built for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition and contains some legendary masterpieces including American Gothic by Grant Wood, Nighthawks by Edward Hopper, A Sunday Afternoon on La Grand Jatte by Georges Seurat and 33 paintings by Claude Monet.
