Home to nearly 8,000 aquatic animals, both fresh and saltwater it is no wonder that the worlds largest indoor aquarium attracts almost 2 million visitors every year. The collection includes over 650 species including whales, otters, penguins, sharks and eels. The original 1929 Shedd Aquarium building has 200 tanks but pride of place is now taken by the immense central tank which is home to some 200 tropical fish including nurse sharks and moray eels as well as beluga whales and white sided-dolphins
