Memphis - Step Back in Time at the Pink Palace Museum

Memphis sightseeing, attractions and online travel guide

The Pink Palace Museum is housed in a 1920s building with Georgian Marble façade and is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the southeast. Inside is a superb reconstruction of its original patron, Clarence Saunders’ Piggly Wiggly the first self-service grocery store in the world. The sprawling museum also includes an extensive exhibition relating the history of Memphis and the surrounding area. There is a fascination section dedicated to old pharmacy with actual medicines and packages taken from the original Beale Street pharmacists as well as a fine collection of fossils including dinosaur bones.
