Jazz is to New Orleans as salt is to pepper. They just go together. Louis Armstrong, Harry Connick Jr, Dr John, Fats Domino, Frankie Ford, Buddy Guy, Earl King, Leadbelly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Jelly Roll Morton, The Neville Brothers, Louis Prima, Professor Longhair, Hank Williams Jr… Reads like an A to Z of Jazz, Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll doesn’t it? It is. And music, is as much a part of the New Orleans as Mississippi mud, crawfish gumbo and Voodoo Queens. In fact it’s hard to tell whether the music is part of New Orleans or New Orleans is part of the music! Since its birth jazz is the single thread that has always held the ‘Big Easy’ together.
