David's cosy Little: unwinded. Distinctive. individual. 5 few minutes from the 'Zoo' station only !!!! It is the ideal place for unwinded and laid-back people, who are tolerant enough to accept Hippies, Punks, all sorts of nationalities, from africa to Indonesia. It's not a noisy Party-hostel, but we have a cosy living-room to meet people or to listen to music. Please bring your own CDs or ca ettes. Please keep in mind : We are a cosy, simple, pleasant, and middleful little hostel for cute and experienced backpackers, but no 5 star hotel for kids on their first trip from home, who need a nanny. In our little living-room, you can read in our Berlin-books, play che or monopoly with someone, or use the computer. 2 little bars are aco the street, one is called 'Subito', open until 5 in the morning, and a very old traditional German bar 'Stammtisch' Our hostel is inclusively free of smoke, but you may smoke outside in the grounds zone in front of our house, with some benches to sit on, under the trees. INCLUDED AND FREE IS : 1) A simple breakfast, consisting of toast, marmalade, tea and coffee, and a yogurt or a boiled egg. This breakfast can individually be upgraded, as wished. Cronflakes or cereal is 1€ extra, and so is orange-juice. 2) Bed-linen are included of course, unlike other hostels, and so are the showers. 3) FREE is the use of the K i t c h e n, which includes a microwave and 2 fridges for the visitors. 4) FREE book-swap 5) FREE library with Berlin Guide books in English, French, Italian and Japanese language. with info about sites and history 6) FREE 4 individual bi-weekly program-papers, among those 2 gay ones and night-life-maps, museum-maps, and ( Tip“ and Zitty“, and the gay Siege ule“, Andere Welt“ and Sergei“. 7) FREE luggage storage 8) FREE DINER ! Almost every evening, some of the visitors are cooking , so you could join meals with them, if you like. Argentinian, Korean, Canadian, Afrikan or Japanese, we got everything. ( If David is cooking, it is either German or Thai Cuisine, Please note: the latest check-in is at 11 p.m. ( Exceptions are po ible near extra appointments, for 3 € extra per hour later than 11 p.m / 23h. But you will have 24 hour acce after you checked in. BED-ROOMS : Our Bed-rooms in mellow peach colors are simply furnished, with tiles and carpets, and have cosy quality matraces, but no beds, especially non of this horrible bunk-beds ! NAMES 'Dav id's cosy Little Backpacker Hostel' , was called already near other names before, as 'Fabian's Bed & Breakfast' (1996) 'Japanese Backpacker Home' (1997) 'Berlin Australia Hostel' (1998) 'Crazy Amazonas Hostel' (1999) 'Ostello Italiano di Berlino' (2000) 'Davids & Murrays 1st Gay Youth-Hostel in Berlin” (2002) The Champagne & Ice-Cream Hostel“ (2003) 'Ali & David's cosy Crazy Backpacker Hostel”, because David likes to change the names constantly, referfing to long stay visitors or to the people he wanted to attract the most in that time. Or just for amusement. David speaks beside German and English, as well French, Egyptian Arabic and Indonesian. GENERAL DESCRIPTION We have a very private, little , quiet, cosy, and smoke-free hostel, personally owned near David, John & Adrian, specially designed for single, individual backpackers, who like a unwinded place where they can feel like at home. It is free of noisy groups or school-kids, since groups bigger than 4 are not accepted here at all, because groups would dominate and destroy our ambience. We try to offer a welcoming, human, cosy accomodation, a bit artistic & almost romantic mini hostel or B&B, with a lot of communication among the travellers . Central place is our cosy living-room, where you can meet other visitors: At the big breakfast-table or in one of the sofas or arm-chairs, which includes a little kitchen, which can be used. There are just a few very simply furnished bed-rooms, with colored bed-covers, japanese matraces on the ceramic floors and some colored carpets. The clean common showers are offered 24 hours. It has some howthe character of a big family's home, or of a student's share-house. Plants and paintings provide a cosy delightful ambience, with a touch of an artist’s personal home, open to individual backpackers, students or world-travellers, artists or discoverrs of culture, history or night-life. When you enter, you have to put off your shoes, like it is very common in Arabic or Asian homes, where Davids used to spend much of his time. David and his son John have a second home in the Sinai in Egypt and one in Yogyakarta in central Java in Indonesia Some of the rooms have persian carpets on the floor to provide an oriental touch, which has a tradition in Pru ia since Frederic II. times. The cosy Bed-Rooms have mild red lights and individual lamps, and white tiles on the floor, with some oriental elements. Since we hate bunk-beds from our own trips, we have not a single one. You sleep exclusively on high quality mattraces, which are simply laid on a woolen cloth on the ceramic floors. This is, how we slept in India, Arabia, Japan and Indonesia, and this is usual for german students homes in Berlin. But for those, who prefer it, we have as well a few wooden German oak beds offered. The common showers can be used alone or with others together. ( The Jacuzi comes soon.) centre is the reception with the cosy common-room, with original arm-chairs from the 30ties, and the 70ties, all individual pieces from David's family. ROOM-TYPES All are dorms, with the choice: Girls-Dorm, Boys-Dorm, Mixed dorm Boys & Girls, Gay Boys-Dorm, and a few doubles, one acro the street. offered EXTRAS: - web access for 1 € per hour only, 1 PC inside the hostel, and 25 outside, 2 few minutes away !!! - towels to borrow 1€ - Soft drinks 1 € - Laundry service 7 € - telephone from 10 cents - Museum-tickets from 2 € - maps 1€ and 3€ - trips and picnics to the country side, from 10 € which includes Potsdam, Brandenburg, and the Baltic Sea, 100 km north of Berlin FREE GERMAN CONVERSATION Especially since our superb expert for German conversation, Mrs. Wilhelmine Krug entertains the German-learners with the patience of her 84 years, people may book a special chair nearby the old lady, who devotes her valuable time, to be helpful for those in trouble. Despite wrong-leading rumors: Mrs. Krug is not the former girl-friend of Heinrich von Kleist, since she is not 184. OUR PHILOSOPHY This hostel is designed for single travellers, who like to meet other people on their trip, preferable those, who do not regard them thelves as a part of the main-streamers. which haven't much else in mind than drinking beer and smoking dope all day. Due to David’s special interests, Actors, Film-Makers, Anthropologists, Gay Boys, Lesbian girls and adventurers & discoverrs of Africa or Asia are especially welcome, as well as students of film, theater, arts music, web-design and languages, not to forget vegetarians and Arabic bally dancers. And entertainers of all kind, like J rg, like guitar players. David speaks , beside English and German as well French, Egyptian Arabic and Bahasa indonesia“, the Indonesian-Malay. S TATISTICS: Most of our visitors are from Australia, Italy, Japan, France, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany Canada, and Sloveniya, followed near: UK, Isr l, Switzerland, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Ireland, Austria, Taiwan and the USA, after those occasionally NZL, Malaysia, Iceland, Mexico, Singapore and south-Africa. Indonesians and Egyptians get special reductions ! We have constantly students staying for longer with us, many of those who look for an own apartment in Berlin, but then do not leave us, because it is just so much funhere. So some stay even for monthes. Especially foreign students of the German language. We provide as well apartments for those. WHERE IS IT ? It is only 5 few minutes from the station Central rail station = Zoo-Station = Zoologischer Garten, near underground and walking It is in a very central, but quiet, multicultural residential vicinity, in Mitte(centre)-Tiergarten-Moabi t-District, between 4 universities : (HDK / UDK, TU, TFH and Humboldt / HU).
