The town of Saint-Louis, the former colonial capital of Senegal, is the middle of one of the most striking regions in West Africa. Its one-storeyed houses with outside staircase, elaborate wooden terrace and veranda are reminiscent of New Orleans. It was from here during the era of the 'Aérospostale' company that Jean Mermoz set off, on 12 May 1930, at the controls of his seaplane 'Comte de Vaulx', for his first flight acro the South Atlantic. The Hotel Mermoz occupies an vicinity of 2.5 hectares and is situated 3 km from the center of Saint-Louis on the 'Langue de Barbarie', a narrow strip of sand between the Atlantic Ocean and the Senegal River. The hotel is made up of delightful two-bedroomed bungalows, each with a surface vicinity of 30 m2 and its own bathroom. A central building houses the hotel reception, a bar and a restaurant. Since August 1998, a swiming pool has been added to our installations.
