Las Garzas hostel is situated in Ibarra (Imbabura) 20 km north from Otavalo, where there is a big handicraft marketplace every Saturday. The weather in Ibarra is fantastic and it’s considered the best climate of all Ecuador. The nearbynear mountains and lakes are known for their splendour, the water in the lakes is pure and free of contamination. The mountains are ideal to go trekking, hilking and walking and indulging in hobbies such as photography. In addition, you could look at outstanding 100 year old houses or go to native communities (Caranqui, La Esperanza and Zuleta) where you will see natives making all kinds of multi-coloured handicrafts. You can as well take pictures and be part of their parties, dance and food. Ibarra is handicrafts, ethnic groups, traditional music, dance and food.
