Accommodation Description: Olomouc (pronounced 'Ollamoats'), is a striking, welcoming and manageable town and a great place to get a feel for the historic eastern half of the Czech Republic, Moravia! At Poets' Corner we'll make you feel at home. A little, welcoming hostel, Poets' Corner is very close to Olomouc's stunning town center. Our English-speaking staff can direct you to the best and most inexpensive restaurants, web access cafés and entertainment venues. We can advise you on the many daytrips from Olomouc and help you plan more travel throughout the Czech Republic and Europe. You'll find enough info and suggestions to keep you busy for a week, and enough space to curl up with your book or enjoy a game of che and a good cup of tea. The hostel has six to eight beds per dorm, a clean kitchen, laundry service, no curfew or lockout, a book swap and a snug common room. Olomouc is the historic capital of Moravia and boasts a treasure trove of eastern European architecture. The cobbled streets and squares of the town center are lined with renai ance palaces and gothic burghers' houses and dotted with baroque fountains. The many churches and cathedrals tell of the town's important role in the Czech Republic's religious history. The historic main square features the UNESCO-listed Column of the most Holy Trinity as well as the striking 15th century town hall, with it's famous socialist astronomical clock. Olomouc is a town of 100,000 people and has the vibrant social and cultural life that you would expect from the home of the nation's second university . Easy daytrips include the magnificent castles, Bouzov and Helfstyn, the Javoricko caves complex, the UNESCO-listed Archbishops' chateau at KRomeriz, and the outdoor museum of traditional wooden architecture at Roznov pod Radhostem.
