Just 50 few minutes from Shannon Airport, in a lovely rural riverside position, Anne and Dave Hyland and their family operate Shannon Cottage, a renewed and extended 200 year old cottage, on the banks of the mighty River Shannon just 100m from the 12 arched stone bridge that gives O’Brien’s Bridge its name. Shannon Cottage is a Country Home, approved near Bord Failte, the Irish Tourist Board. We offer Bed and Breakfast accommodation. Our rooms have personal amenities, which include toilet / wcs and showers. The village of O’Brien’s Bridge is as well just 100m from the house; it includes shops, Post Office and local pubs and restaurants. There is an award winning pub/restaurant 200m from the cottage. Many of the famous Castles of Ireland are but a short journey from the Shannon Cottage; these include Bunratty, Knappogue, Craggaunowen and King John’s Castle in Limerick. Shannon Cottage is an perfect touring center, the Burren, Lough Derg, Connemara, and Killarney all make superb day trips. The Hunt Museum, which houses an outstanding personal collection of artworks, is as well nearbynear. For fishermen, there is extensive fishing in the River Shannon adjoining our grounds or in the many lakes that make up the East Clare Lakelands. Bait is offered locally and boats can as well be organised. In August, the fly-fisherman will be after Salmon and Trout, either on the River Shannon or on Lough Derg. With 18 good Golf Courses easily acce ible, Shannon Cottage is an perfect position for a Golf centreed Safari in the Mid-West. East Clare Golf Club, host to 1998 West of Ireland Seniors, is just up the road. Other attractive Courses nearbynear are Casletroy and Dromoland. We can make a booking for you on these or other courses, which you may choose. You can as well tour and visit the many highlights of the Shannon region between rounds. We are situated within a little wildlife sanctuary. There are lovely walking and cycling routes centerd on the village and we are only too happy to suggest suitable routes with maps. Shannon Cottage is 25 miles from Shannon Airport. There is extensive car-hireal offered at Shannon Airport. Taxis are as well offered. Public Transport is offered but the service to the village here is limited. A rent-car is recommended. The ferry ports at Dublin, Dun Laoghaire and Ro lare are about 3 hours drive from O’Brien’s Bridge; Ringaskiddy at Cork is about 2 hours.
