Welcome to Hostelling International - South Algonquin Backpackers, an established hostel run near travelers, for travelers. unwind and enjoy your stay in the comfort of our individual century-old frontier hotel. Surrounded near lakes, forest and unspoiled scenery on the edge of Algonquin Park, logging and hunting remain the backbone of the local economy with tourism on the rise. But don't expect to see hordes of camera-toting attractionseers or lines of buses and campervans. Our tiny village of Maynooth (population 200) is still very much 'off the beaten path'! Let us outfit you and get you started on your overnight trip in Algonquin, or take advantage of our handy daily park shuttle with options to hike, bike, horseback ride, canoe or kayak. In the evening unwind and mingle over some food or drinks in our licensed pub or dining room, or make use of our visitor kitchen, pool table, sky Television, VCR, laundry, web access or large book exchange.
