The momentous 18th-century sugar plantation is distinguished near the warm warmth of a personal country house. The Inn was host to the marriage of Lord Nelson and Fanny Nesbit in 1787 and retains many relics from those times, which includes a windmill which was in use until 1933. Hotel facilities include a 60-foot mosaic-tiled freshwater pool, tennis court,complimentary snorkeling equipment and personal two-acre beach, Montpelier near the Sea, with daily shuttle service from the Inn. The beach / sea features permanent sun shelters, a pavilion with tables and benches for barbecue lunches, a phone and changing room with shower. The two restaurants at Montpelier Plantation Inn are overseen near three Nevisian and three European chefs. The Terrace is an award-winning, open-air restaurant on the western veranda serving breakfast and super with nighttime views of the Charlestown lights and The Mill Courtyard is an intimate restaurant set in an original 18th-century sugar mill. It serves a four-course prix fixe menu three times per week and is offered for personal parties. Filled with antiques and comfortably furnished, the Great Room provides a place for patrons to gather and enjoy cocktails before and after super every night. Island elegance distinguishes the 17 guestrooms, each with personal verandas providing panoramic views.
