Festivals & Events - * May 3 & 4 Hakata Dontaku Festival: 25,000 people participate in parades throughout the city. * July 1 to 15 Hakata Gion Yamakasa: For the duration of the festival, gorgeous floats are built throughout the city. The climax of the festival occurs on July 15th at 4:59am when several hundred men wearing traditional costumes carry a one-ton float through the city. * September Asian Pacific Festival: Held throughout the month celebrating Asia arts, music and food. * December Fukuoka International Open Marathon: Held the first Sunday in December. * January 3 Tamaseri at Hakozaki Shrine: A New Year's festival held for a good harvest and fish catch.City Attractions - * Canal City Shopping and Entertainment Center. 10 minute walk * Ohori Park, one of Japan's famous parks.
