The hotel is housed in the old Crown Prison built in the early 19th century. In the middle of the building is the attractive gallery built in 1866. In 1975 the prison was closed and in may 1989 the hotel was opened after being completely refurbished. Since then the hotel has been renewed in 2001 and is now a up to date 102 visitor rooms hotel full of character but with amenities up to up to date standards. The old prison entrance hall has been converted into the reception area, with a cafeteria open 24 hours a day. The hotel has a restaurant, a bar and a conference center with 8 conference and meeting rooms.
