The European-style Kandahar Lodge is situated on Big Mountain, 40 miles west of Glacier National Park, and approximately 22 miles from Glacier International Airport. The 50-room lodge is a base camp for summer explorations of close by Glacier National Park and in the middle of the action for winter snow sports. Day trips from Kandahar may include hiking, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, sightseeing, fishing, boating, swimming, a balloon flight, shopping, museums, theater, and fantastic dining. Winter brings skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and dog-sled adventures. The property's facilities include the hot tub, steam room, exercise room, massage services, and fully licensed Snug Bar. Cafe Kandahar serves breakfast and super (reservations recommended). All rooms feature pine interiors and tile bathrooms and have A/C, little refrigerators, microwaves, and coffeemakers. The lodge is open from Thanksgiving to mid-April and from June through September.
