Beatrix Potter once owned the house, and here she wrote and illustrated several of her world-renowned children's stories, in particular, Timmy Tiptoes in 1911 and Pigling Bland in 1913. Lindeth Howe is set in 6 acres of striking gardens and has splendid views over Lake Windermere.
