It as well has 272 species of birds and about 30 species of mammals, which includes Nilgai, Indian Gazelle, Indian Wild Boar, Leopard, and Sambar. The park is closed from July to September every year due to monsoons. The Sawai Madhopur Lodge, spread over 12 acres, was built in the early 1930's near Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II of Jaipur for his hunting trips to the jungle of Ranthambhore, which were the favourite hunting grounds of the royal family of Jaipur.
